survival series

greetings. today is friday march 25th and a lot has happened since i last wrote anything here.
Japan, an earthquake and tsunami and nuclear disaster being at the top of the list. second on the list is the war with libya and Khadafi killing his own people trying to oust him. he ought to be taken out and shot for his crimes, in my humble opinion . egypt fell, mubarik fled and they now have freedom to elect their new leaders as they see fit. lets hope its not a worse situation. yemen, i never did like any yemenis i ever had the discomfort of meeting. they are as worse as arabs , them i had at least try to understand . i guess its true though. i won't like a lot of people.
my initial dislike of arabs stem from the fact they dont bathe . i know a few grubbies like arabs
and they stink as well.

all of this goes to prove my point. things are never exactly perfect. a disaster , or a madman can change peoples lives in such a way that no one can see it coming. the next big enemy is
our government, and hyper inflation . gold and silver... like i said earlier. the dollar is soon going to be worthless. beans and bullets will be the next currency.

safe drinking water. ...distill it treat it with chlorine tablets and let it sit. bottled water supplies are going to be scarce. you can build your own distiller out of a pressure cooker. fill it with tap water, out the lid on tightly and attach a piece of copper tubing to it and catch what drips out once it condenses . do this on a stove close to where your sink is and bottle the water in glass gallon jugs and seal then up. in ten days you can put away 700 gallons of purified distilled water ... you can filter out any particulates using a charcoal filter. take 2 coffee filters and glue them together with charcoal inside and filter the water through it. sweet and simple , then distill it and survive another day

seeds, buy food producing seed at the discount stores. i got green beans, tomato seeds, squash and spinach seed , pumpkin seed, corn , lettuce and my pear trees and apple trees .
a new addition was the spicy asian yard long bean... talk about delicious. yummm

romaine lettuce or black seeded simpson is a good lettuce, tasty . rice , oats and wheatberries , groats, buckwheat and corn are more difficult to grow but it can be done. also melons. i like the small wonders and muskmelons the best. sweet and be sure to keep it away
from squash and pumpkins as they will cross breed into inedible horse feed. i also like to grow sweet corn. beans corn and squish the three sisters grow together just fine..limas yumm

building the bunker

recently, things proved to different and i set forth plans for a bunker to replace the storm shelter i built. the funds, i do things when i have the time and the cash . the existing bunker is too small for me and all my gear to be comfortable in. a backhoe, a few bags of concrete and
wooden forms and plastic and logs specially cut into thirty foot lengths will make a bigger and more livable shelter.
i had to rent a backhoe and dig the hole out myself..i lined it with plastic, 7 mill as a vapor barrier and put in the piping for the ventilation system . next i'll put down wire mesh and rebar for the poured floor once i get the support posts into place . all this is done in dry weather to minimize moisture...more later
