summer heat

things are really bad here this summer. 6 days of 98 plus temperatures ..
hydration , the key to my happiness in hot weather, and my kiddie pool lol

so the economy is in the shitter, the jobless rates, if you believe the governmental
line is at 10 percent. actually its more like 15 percent adding all of those people who are
not eligible for benefits . so any way its says to me that something is wrong here I do not
trust government by mob rule . nor do i like to be dictated to by democrats, who grab guns,
spend more tax revenues and use class warfare as a means of control

happy hunting

why obama doesn't think

because if he thought about it, he might figure out hes wrong, and no black man ever admits to being wrong, at least in my experience.

survival sites o the internet

there are a lot of sites on the internet that run along the same lines as my way of thinking. not all, but quite a few that have the balls to stand up for what they believe to be true.

survival cache . com is a good site. Usefull insightful information regarding surviving wshtf and teotwawki point of view. good info, and good folks as well.

be prepared . com is a good site. food prep , mres, food water. etcetera. they feature mountain house food, expensive, but good

tradrag.com a very cool site to visit and join. black powder guns, muzzle loading and primitive archery a must on this site. no training wheels folk, but archer s welcomed

powderkeg @blogger.com .. this is me... i write and misspell a lot but people get the general idea. i do not like politics or politicians , they can all go to perdition (and most will )

things to remember. the armory has mres, rifles and ammo. a great source of protection

stores will be overrun by greedy armed people. stock up at least a years supplies before shit hits the fan.. make a plan. be wary of neighbors and family counts first.

my camp is closed for the summer. it reopens in october for bow season

notes from all over...

take it to heart and bear it in mind, mother nature can throw some heavy things in your path, from weather , to wildlife. that being said, let's get on with the program...

i received permission from emergency essentials to list them here, in writing. they provide a mail order and online list of food and food related supplies you may wish to consider. i am , and so should you. my regular supplier of mres pooped out on me. the last batch i got from him was 5 years old and had been subjected to rat, and at full price. (rat poopies in the bottom of the case and gnawed plastic).. he's since gone out of business.

so i wait to afford replenishing my supplies of good wholesome food in case shtf ... okay
the best deals are there, but with these folks, they provide good at a fair price and they deliver what they say, whether its a yeasr supply of canned good or other things.

water ..the mainstay of life, large containers are a good bet for storing water short term. well water is my source and a few springs i have found and checked myself. pure water , i still boil it and clorox it if i need to do so. id rather have dead germs than dead me any day of the week
so good luck god bless and good hunting.

dyeing camouflage clothes

hi today im here discussing dyeing, coloring plain old ordinary clothes greens tans , brown and blacks. first trick is to have lots of boiling h2o water.. the more the better. find a few heavy plastic bottles, i use gator aid bottles and pour dye into the bottom. then pour in the water hotttt
mix and brush on the dye with a paint brush. be creative , artistic . for dyeing large pieces a single color, use a plastic tub from walmart or kamart. and immerse into die and boiling water..

the next trick is to add salt, pickling salt works the best . then rinse and repeat the dyeing process untill you get the exact color you want.. remember to wear heavy gloves and protect handsand eyes . dyes can be caustic and give burns painting gives you the option of addiong dark to light, bleach will remove areas of dye to recolor or lighten.. have fun

no more money for you

The president ought to take a good look at our giving foreign aid to third world countries like pakistan . they need to stop giving the money to the pakis and spend some of it here on our own problems . countries that harbor terrorists like pakistan should not receive one red cent from us. bin laden is proof of that, living in pakistan for 5 plus years, and the pakis say no one knew...i dont believe it for one minute,,,,to support the paki government now is a slap in the face to every american who ever served in the armed forces, and a slap in the face to the dead of 911 . yes i know that its a delicate situation over there, so let the pakis sort it out. In my humble opinion the money we save benefits US and not them ..end of rant

names of sailors who died in the 9-11 pentagon attacks

i hope the SEAL shooter who took down bin laden was thinking about those 7 men when he killed the most evil man in modern history .
7 good men, they were respected, loved by their friends and family . i know tonight they sleep easier knowing the man responsible for the deaths of these 7 naval men has been given the justice he deserved . may the lord forgive that brave sailor for taking another mans life , even though the life he took was an evil scumbag . and bin laden, i hope you burn in hell for all eternity and few days beyond for good measure

Pests and disease

mosquitoes, ticks, chiggers , snakebites, hantavirus, pneumonic plague, bubonic plague, smallpox, anthrax , dengue fever, yellow fever, cholera, typhus, typhoid. blood poisoning, rabies , allergies, common cold, hayfever. lockjaw (tetanus) montezumas revenge .

all of these have a single thing in common. you don't want them in your camp. I sure as hell dont want them in mine. ,

in the midwest and arid states the diseases are bad, hanta , plague and others are there .
rabies, its a big problem with foxes , skunks and raccoons and possums dogs and cats

keep in mind in a shit hits the fan scenario, you won't have access to lifesaving vaccines
obviously unless you are near a US military base and or a major hospital.
you'll be on your own. keep up to date with your shots. you can die in a week from tetanus
and its a very nasty way to die..

check out survivalcache.com online. there are links articles and books to find there that teach you some of the basics to more advanced techniques from all over the world.

older and wiser

okay this is for those who think their way is the only way.
im an old fart. granted i have been around a while and i have learned a few lessons in my lifetime . i've also learned a lot about people and things. i was born when man first went into space. now its an everyday thing to hear about a space mission.
okay my point is this. i love my family where ever they are. i just don't like them all the time.
im a conservative , realistically and politically. i do not believe abortion is right, and i strongly support the death penalty for those crimes that deserve it. I do not believe in prisoners rights.
and i do not believe in big government bailing out corporations that pay no taxes GE?
i believe in the american fighting man and woman. i served with some of the finest people
that ever served in my days . i have a special place in my heart for vets, being a vet makes you special. So i drive a toyota truck every now and then. it gets good gas mileage and is reliable
so maybe there is hope for me.
there was a time when we were safe in our homes, but that time has passed. we have to lock ourselves in . corrupt government is all over the place. and here it comes.

we are in deep trouble in this world. we have enemies that want us all dead. that is not a paranoid statement , especially if it is true. there are idiots who think the only way to do things in this world are by violent methods and by suppressing the rights of the citizens.
they are on their way out. freedom has a nice feel to it. and im not going to give up my freedom for abunch of gun grabbing politicos who think the only way to solve crime is to make guns illegal . it doesnt work that way. it never has and it never will.
end of my rant

weather and survival

wow, for a few weeks we have had some really strong storms in this area. tornadoes all around us, downtown was hit last week by a tornado and tore roofs off of buildings and we had shingles and siding here at my place go bye bye. earlier today we had two cells, and two cells yesterday come through dropping trees and over 3 inches of combined rain. and in the 90s on monday forecasted. so weather plays a role in being outside. thunderstorms with fierce lightning kills on average 6 people a year in north carolina. the highest in the nation . i think this is due to the golf courses we have and the rich retirees that flock to them. only a guess on my part.
lightning , static buildup and discharge . millions of volts, and temperatures hotter than the surface of the sun .. scary isnt it?
lightning can travel 90 miles and strike an object even in blue sky (aka the bolt out of the blue) and can kill. my advise, stay indoors away from electonics, away from metal doors and out of the bathtub or shower unless you are hunkered down for a tornado, then the bathtub is probably your safest place to be covered in pillows or a mattress.
get a weather radio if you are going to be out. radio shack has them cheap.

addendum

sewing kits are inexpensive and worth their weight in gold in the wild. so are adhesive glue
that are toluene based . super glue also. you should include these articles in with your first aid kit

so recently i got a .177 crosman air rifle . its handy . last night the 410 shotgun took out a coon
that had gotten into the dog area causing trouble . dispatched with 2 rifled slugs. rabies is a big problem with coons in this area. one less coon to worry about

now i have to spend money to have the rabies booster for my dogs ..big rip off for a shot

survival series

greetings. today is friday march 25th and a lot has happened since i last wrote anything here.
Japan, an earthquake and tsunami and nuclear disaster being at the top of the list. second on the list is the war with libya and Khadafi killing his own people trying to oust him. he ought to be taken out and shot for his crimes, in my humble opinion . egypt fell, mubarik fled and they now have freedom to elect their new leaders as they see fit. lets hope its not a worse situation. yemen, i never did like any yemenis i ever had the discomfort of meeting. they are as worse as arabs , them i had at least try to understand . i guess its true though. i won't like a lot of people.
my initial dislike of arabs stem from the fact they dont bathe . i know a few grubbies like arabs
and they stink as well.

all of this goes to prove my point. things are never exactly perfect. a disaster , or a madman can change peoples lives in such a way that no one can see it coming. the next big enemy is
our government, and hyper inflation . gold and silver... like i said earlier. the dollar is soon going to be worthless. beans and bullets will be the next currency.

safe drinking water. ...distill it treat it with chlorine tablets and let it sit. bottled water supplies are going to be scarce. you can build your own distiller out of a pressure cooker. fill it with tap water, out the lid on tightly and attach a piece of copper tubing to it and catch what drips out once it condenses . do this on a stove close to where your sink is and bottle the water in glass gallon jugs and seal then up. in ten days you can put away 700 gallons of purified distilled water ... you can filter out any particulates using a charcoal filter. take 2 coffee filters and glue them together with charcoal inside and filter the water through it. sweet and simple , then distill it and survive another day

seeds, buy food producing seed at the discount stores. i got green beans, tomato seeds, squash and spinach seed , pumpkin seed, corn , lettuce and my pear trees and apple trees .
a new addition was the spicy asian yard long bean... talk about delicious. yummm

romaine lettuce or black seeded simpson is a good lettuce, tasty . rice , oats and wheatberries , groats, buckwheat and corn are more difficult to grow but it can be done. also melons. i like the small wonders and muskmelons the best. sweet and be sure to keep it away
from squash and pumpkins as they will cross breed into inedible horse feed. i also like to grow sweet corn. beans corn and squish the three sisters grow together just fine..limas yumm

building the bunker

recently, things proved to different and i set forth plans for a bunker to replace the storm shelter i built. the funds, i do things when i have the time and the cash . the existing bunker is too small for me and all my gear to be comfortable in. a backhoe, a few bags of concrete and
wooden forms and plastic and logs specially cut into thirty foot lengths will make a bigger and more livable shelter.
i had to rent a backhoe and dig the hole out myself..i lined it with plastic, 7 mill as a vapor barrier and put in the piping for the ventilation system . next i'll put down wire mesh and rebar for the poured floor once i get the support posts into place . all this is done in dry weather to minimize moisture...more later

the truth about herman caine

the truth... the truth is no one wants to see the bigger scary picture
Obama promised change. well we got it. socialism, worse than communism
now im certain the world won't judge him too harshly. he is only doing what hitler did to germany in the late 1930s . it doesnt matter that he lied to us. because all politicians lie to us
and we expect it. thats why i support herman caine for president. he's an honest man. He doesnt get swayed by the populist polls to figure out where he stands. he knows where he
stands and i respect a man that speaks from his heart and his head .
a lot of folks don't know a lot about herman caine. He is a man, a black american man
and hes a father a radio personality, a former senator and an honest to goodness american
business man, with proven skills as a professional business leader. look him up on the web.
you might like what you see. i do..he gets my vote

see where he stands on the real issues. support him bye

okay folks. things are happening all around the world. people are dissatisfied with the status quo and they are revolting in the streets against the dictators and mad men who lead them.
to this i say bravo. revolution is good for ones soul, especially in moslem countries or corrupt
countries. The gaddaffis and kings and strongmen need to realize you are not scared anymore
and take to the streets , arm yourselves. there are more of you than there are of them. take back your country friends .. hey wait a minute.. i think we need a little of that here too. bust the unions, take away their bargaining rights. workers have the right to show up , work and get a
paycheck. lazy bunch of bums. no wonder the country is in financial hot water.

buy mres stock up on ammo...come the revolution...

survival cache . com is a good website to look at. it gives you links for all survival gear, everything you need to know is there .

you can spend hundreds of dollars on survival gear. it's expensive ... but you can spend less
and learn how to survive by using your brain. that is priceless. kids need to start out early
Boyscouts is a good start. especially if the scoutmasters are former military. i was lucky. My scoutmasters were officers and dedicated to survival . i learned a lot. and put the lessons to good use. the basics are important. first aid. food gathering, water, hunting skills, archery,
rifles and ropes . compass reading orienteering all basic essentials. take the time to learn. its hard to learn on the run..

survival shotguns... i have two, a twelve gauge and a 410. i have a shrew tomahawk

bug out bags differ from person to person depending on what a person wants or needs.

my tomahawk, made by shrew is an valuable tool . i can cut meat with it, chop wood with it
and use it to defend myself. my brain is a powerful tool as well. with it i can covey messages, write tidbits that stimulate and cause people to give action.

my black powder rifle is a tool. it provides me with food for my table over the long winter months. Deer, rabbits, squirrels, possums, beaver, and game birds just to name a few items.
i also have a shotgun, or two..makes life interesting...

ive embarked on two projects, building a bow and building a boat. the bow is more time consuming. the boat floats and gets me from point a to b with a paddle or my electric motor.

more deaths attributed to sub zero temperatures ...

in this day and age no one should die from hypothermia. no one should freeze to death.

me, i worry about pneumonia more than anything. i have no heat besides a little space heater to keep me warm, when i use it. the electric company charged me 548 dollars for the privilege to
keep my lights on. gasoline is 4bucks a gallon here plus. and its only going to get worse. the warmest ive been all winter long was yesterday at the doctors office. us older folks like it warm
so i go to the library to get warm. imagine having to bathe in cold water. its a shock, but hey i want to be clean. that is when the pipes aren't frozen up. I'd live in my truck and ive been working on a radiator for the camper to heat it up if im forced to spend the night in it. ive got a good sleeping bag that needs some sewing. the worst case is dying alone and unloved and worse s deep in debt i owe more than i have.

you have a nice warm place, i live in an unheated trailer. the fire marshal says i cant use my woodstove any more, because it's not up to code...it would take me a year to redo it and about three thousand dollars to put a new roof on this place and bring it up to code.. im lucky they don't condemn this place.

survival series

In this day and age, having a car emergency kit is a must have, including road flares , emergency blanket, first aid kit and fire extinguisher. especially since this past week there have been ice and snow storms in 49 states . i also include a sewing kit in my gear bag and a knife.
i also have a hammer device that can break out a window, it has a pin for puncturing deployed airbags, and a light and razor to cut off seatbelts,,,
so there is black ice on the roads.. its dark out and you have to go to the store..my advise, stay home. call a friend who lives close to the store and ask them to do it for you. a good friend will help you out, slip and fall, break a bone. not so fun is it. ?
if you drive and hit ice turn into the skid and hold on. hospitals report more cardiac arrests and kids being hurt during snowy weather. cardiac arrests from old guys shovelling the driveway, and hurt kids, teens especially who do stupid things in the storm, like walk out on pertly frozen ponds and fall through the ice... peace and stay warm...

NOMAD

this writing is about Nomad, a man that wanders the highways and byways from mexico to
canada...

Jake Archer pulled into the dusty gas station and pumped thirty dollars worth of gas into
his truck.
"Prices are terrible," the old coot behind the counter said to him. "Where're you headed
pilgrim?"
"Music festival down south" Jake said.
"its about ten miles south of here."
" I reckon it is," Jake said. Here's fifty. I'll want a bag of ice, water, a case , and a loaf of
that there bread, please.
"Comes to thirty eight fifty," the coot said
Jake got his change, the case of water, the bread and the ice and loaded them in his camper.
he rode off to the south coming to the fairgrounds and paying 30 bucks to camp for the three day festival.
he sliced some bread, and made the sandwich and drank a cool water down as he listened to the music coming from one of the stages. . he got in the camper and checked the water tank. full he washed the dust off his face and locked up, heading to the jams.
he lit a smoke and relaxed on the grass. listening to a bluegrass group and tipped his hat
down to ease the glow of the sunlight . After a while he headed back to his camp and set up for the night, starting a small fire using some hickory and oak pieces he'd cut a few days ago.
setting a pot of water on to boil, he made coffee and poured most of it into a camouflaged thermos. the rest he sipped until it got dark out, and he settled in for the night.
He awakened at dawn, rolling out of the camper and headed to the food vending tent
got a decent hippy breakfast for a dollar and a quarter, consisting of fried egg , a half strip of bacon and some sausage wrapped in a flat bread. he drank his own coffee and headed to the jonny house to take care of his biz. when he returned to the camp, he saw three kids playing
by the stream, naked as the day they were born. two gals came down to watch the kids and they too got naked, much to his delight.
"Hippies," he said smiling to himself. He cut some dead wood from the trees area and
stacked it up and poured himself a cup of joe from the thermos.
some guy walked over to his camp and waited beyond the edge of it for a minute

Jake bade him to come over.
"Dude , that coffee is smelling righteous," the long hair said.
Jake poured him a bit into a tin cup he had carried in with him and told the guy to sit down on the log. jake fixed another pot of coffee up and shared with the man.
"You're the one they call the nomad," the hippy said.
"that'd be me," Jake said. You got a problem?"
"No sir," the man said. My name is Cyrill . I caretake the farm here. I been told you're
good people by some folks. So if i need your help i know who to come to. You enjoying your
time here so far?
"i heard the band practicing some yesterday when i pulled in," Jake said. They sound even
better than they did last year."
"They have had a lot of miles to practice on," Cyrill said. You were here last year?"
" i stopped for a day on my way to mexico," jake said. I was taking a break from the road and the guy at the gate let me sleep the night. A friend of a friend, so to speak.
I see you paid for your spot this time. " Cyrill said. It's cool. we let a lot of wanderers come in anyway. otherwise they'd sneak in through the back. its all cool here..
We make money on the rich kids looking to have mellow time, " Cyrill said. so we don't
go broke.

happy new year all

Okay so ive not been here for a while, nothing new to report due to a snowy christmas here in the midlands of north carolina. i didnt hear from family so i guess they were too wrapped up and didnt give a damn as usual .

survival depends upon three things.. the first thing is training to be able to do it, second
is practice doing it. third is having goals worth achieving and thats pretty much it.

round cookie boxes painted in camouflage can be used for a variety of things. i store my firestarter kit in one and small tools and other things i can use, hooks line lead weights
a small but sharp knife, and cotton bolls to light a fire with . i also carry a small amount of hand sanitizer alcohol based to help .

fish hooks can save your life. they can snare a fish and rabbits and squirts . i also carry pre-
packed loads for the muzzle loader rifle, in one tin. lead , powder , caps , flints and steel.

a good map , laminated with clear plastic can keep you on the right trail ..grease pencil
and camou creme ..i like it like that

joseph had a coat of many colours. my coat is black green and tan and gray and brown.
imagine that. check out the merlin operation online . want scary dreams. it'll give them to you

finally , i hope everyone makes it past may 21st of this year. i got a bad vibe about that date for some reason...something i heard...
and to the sob who stole my tomahawk out of my truckbed. your days are numbered . i got you on video, you little rat bastard...
